After earning a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University in 1999, Dorfman spent the next ten years working as a designer and illustrator in various creative departments within the music industry. In the interest of seeking out more idea driven, narrative based projects Matt began freelancing, producing work for Penguin books, Wired, and The New Yorker, to name a few.
Dorfman, joined The New York Times, in October 2011. His work has been recognized by the AIGA, Print magazine, and The Society of Illustrators.
